c772b1822a Move the declaration of query_config() to a dedicated header file
Declaring query_config() belongs with the query_config program, not in
ssl_test_lib.h, so move the declaration to a new header file

28f62f6212 Support running the benchmark with a single curve
If you pass a curve name to the benchmark program, the ECDH and ECDSA
benchmarks will only run for that particular curve. By default, all
curves are benchmarked.

To simplify the implementation, if you pass multiple curves, only the
last one will be benchmarked.

db6b03b4f2 Remove old-style accelerator and entropy driver interfaces
The driver interfaces described in crypto_accel_driver.h and
crypto_entropy_driver.h are no longer being worked on. We do not
intend to finish the design of these interfaces or to implement them
in Mbed TLS. They have been superseded by the unified driver
interface (docs/proposed/psa-driver-interface.md), which is being
actively worked on both to finalize the specification and to implement
it in Mbed TLS.

The partially implemented dynamic secure element interface is staying
for now.

80448aae2c Fix GCC warning about test_snprintf
GCC 11 generated the warnings because the parameter `ret_buf`
was declared as `const char[10]`, but some of the arguments
provided in `run_test_snprintf` are shorter literals, like "".

Now the type of `ret_buf` is `const char *`.
Both implementations of `test_snprintf` were fixed.

f08b3f8624 Autonomous random driver: create configuration option
Create a configuration option for autonomous random drivers, i.e. PSA
crypto drivers that provide a random generator, that have their own
entropy source and do not support injecting entropy from another
source.

This commit only creates the configuration option. Subsequent commits
will add the implementation and tests.

a8e309e01d cmake: Fix added sources to targets
In cmake version < 3.0, the SOURCES property on targets cannot be
modified after the target is defined. There are several instances in
the code that were using `target_properties()`, which is not available
in the older versions of cmake. Unfortunately, the workaround in #3801
(381c1078fc) assumes that this SOURCES property can be modified.

Work around this by building up any necessary sources before declaring
the target. This is more awkward, but needed to continue to be able to
support the old versions of cmake.

Fixes #3788.

381c1078fc cmake: Avoid using target_properties for old cmake
CMake versions less than 3.0 do not support the `target_sources`
command. In order to be able to support v2.8.12.2 of cmake, directly
set the SOURCES property instead of using the target_sources command.

A future patch could reverse this, if the project decides to forgo
support for cmake versions less than 3.0.

71016a9ea7 psa: Rename psa_key_file_id_t to mbedtls_svc_key_id_t
With PSA crypto v1.0.0, a volatile key identifier may
contain a owner identifier but no file is associated
to it. Thus rename the type psa_key_file_id_t to
mbedtls_svc_key_id_t to avoid a direct link with a
file when a key identifier involves an owner
identifier.

The new type name is prefixed by mbedtls to highlight
that the type is specific to Mbed TLS implementation
and not defined in the PSA Cryptography API
specification.

The svc in the type name stands for service as this
is the key identifier type from the point of view of
the service providing the Cryptography services.
The service can be completely provided by the present
library or partially in case of a multi-client service.

As a consequence rename as well:
. MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_KEY_FILE_ID_ENCODES_OWNER to
  MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_KEY_ID_ENCODES_OWNER
. PSA_KEY_ID_INIT to MBEDTLS_SVC_KEY_ID_INIT
. PSA_KEY_FILE_GET_KEY_ID to MBEDTLS_SVC_KEY_ID_GET_KEY_ID
. psa_key_file_id_make to mbedtls_svc_key_id_make

6240defd17 Add MBEDTLS_TEST_CONSTANT_FLOW_MEMSAN
This option allows to test the constant-flow nature of selected code, using
MemSan and the fundamental observation behind ctgrind that the set of
operations allowed on undefined memory by dynamic analysers is the same as the
set of operations allowed on secret data to avoid leaking it to a local
attacker via side channels, namely, any operation except branching and
dereferencing.

(This isn't the full story, as on some CPUs some instructions have variable
execution depending on the inputs, most notably division and on some cores
multiplication. However, testing that no branch or memory access depends on
secret data is already a good start.)

e52fd3fa55 Fix integer overflow in benchmark program
When building with MBEDTLS_MEMORY_DEBUG enabled, and running the ecdh part,
the benchmark program would start writing a very large number of space
characters on stdout, and would have to be killed because it never seemed to
terminate.

This was due to an integer overflow in computing how many space to leave after
the title in order to get memory measurements aligned, which resulted in up
to SIZE_MAX spaces being printed.

This commit just fixes the overflow, the next commit is going to fix the magic
number (12).

b99bd39b4e Merge mbed-crypto into mbedtls: the merge commit
Merge `unremove-non-crypto` into `mbedtls/development`. The branch
`unremove-non-crypto` was obtained by starting from `mbed-crypto/development`,
then reverting many commits that removed X.509 and TLS functionality when Mbed
Crypto forked from Mbed TLS (the “unremoval”), then make a few tweaks to
facilitate the merge.

The unremoval step restored old versions of some tls files. If a file doesn't
exist in mbed-crypto, check out the mbedtls version, regardless of what
happened during the unremoval of tls files in the crypto tree. Also
unconditionally take the mbedtls version of a few files where the
modifications are completely project-specific and are not relevant in
mbed-crypto:

* `.github/issue_template.md`: completely different. We may want to reconcile
  them independently as a follow-up.
* `.travis.yml`: would only be reverted to an earlier tls version.
* `README.md`: completely different. We may want to reconcile them
  independently as a follow-up.
* `doxygen/input/doc_mainpage.h`: the changes in crypto were minimal and not
  relevant except as a stopgap as mbed-crypto did not have its own product
  versioning in the Doxygen documentation.
* `tests/.jenkins/Jenkinsfile`: completely different.
* `tests/data_files/Makefile`: there were no changes in mbed-crypto,
  but the unremoval step restored an old version.

Shell script for everything to do after the merge apart from the conflict
resolution:
```
tls_files=($(comm -23 <(git ls-tree -r --name-only HEAD) <(git ls-tree -r --name-only $(git merge-base upstream-crypto/development MERGE_HEAD))))
tls_files+=($tls_files .github/issue_template.md .travis.yml README.md doxygen/input/doc_mainpage.h tests/.jenkins/Jenkinsfile tests/data_files/Makefile)
git checkout --theirs HEAD -- $tls_files
git add -- $tls_files
```

Resolve the remaining conflicts:

* `library/CMakeLists.txt`:
    * Keep the TLS definition of `src_crypto`
    * `USE_SHARED_MBEDTLS_LIBRARY`: keep all three libraries, with both
      `include` and `crypto/include` in `target_include_directories`, all with
      version `2.21.0`.
* `programs/Makefile`:
    * Reconcile the APPS lists (add/add from a differently-formatted common
      ancestor): insert the `psa/*` from crypto into the tls list.
    * Keep the `fuzz` target defined only in tls version.
    * Keep the recipe (only in tls version) cleaning `ssl_pthread_server`
      stuff for the `clean` target.
* `scripts/config.py`:
    * `include_in_full`: add/add conflict. Keep both.
* `tests/scripts/all.sh`:
    * `component_test_no_use_psa_crypto_full_cmake_asan`: partially old
      version in crypto. Take the tls version.
    * `component_test_malloc_0_null` and more: take
      `component_test_malloc_0_null` from crypto (with `config.py` rather than
      `config.pl`, and with `$ASAN_FLAGS` rather than an explicit list), but
      add the call to `ssl-opt.sh` from tls. Take the other components from
      crypto.

With this commit, building and running the unit tests with both `make ` and
`cmake` work in the default configuration on Linux. Other platforms, build
systems and configurations are likely not to work, and there is some
regression in test coverage.

There is some loss of functionality because the unremoval step restored older
versions of tls content. This commit contains the latest tls version of
tls-only files, but some changes from the tls side in files that existed on
both sides have regressed. Most problematic changes are hunks that remove some
tls-specific feature and contain either a C preprocessor symbol identifying a
tls-specific module or option, or the name of a tls-specific file. Hunks
that remove a tls-specific preprocessor symbol can be identified with the
regular expression `^-.*MBEDTLS_(ERR_)?(PKCS11|X509|NET|SSL)_`.

Subsequent commits will revert a few parts of the patch from this merge commit
in order to restore the tls functionality that it removes, ensure that the
test coverage includes what was covered in either branch, and fix test
failures.

Add a very basic test of calloc to the selftest program. The selftest

The main objective is to report whether calloc returns NULL for a size

db0cb2578c Fix CTR_DRBG benchmark
You can't reuse a CTR_DRBG context without free()ing it and
re-init()ing. This generally happened to work, but was never
guaranteed. It could have failed with alternative implementations of
the AES module because mbedtls_ctr_drbg_seed() calls
mbedtls_aes_init() on a context which is already initialized if
mbedtls_ctr_drbg_seed() hasn't been called before, plausibly causing a
memory leak. Calling free() and seed() with no intervening init fails
when MBEDTLS_THREADING_C is enabled and all-bits-zero is not a valid
mutex representation. So add the missing free() and init().

e123395317 cmake: link programs that only use crypto with libmbedcrypto
When building with CMake, for sample programs that only use
functionality in libmbedcrypto (i.e. crypto and platform), link with
libmbedcrypto, not with libmbedtls.

This doesn't change the result, because the linker skips libraries in
which no symbol is used, but it changes the build dependencies, and it
has the advantage of bringing programs/*/CMakeLists.txt closer to the
corresponding files under crypto/.

The programs concerned are crypto sample and test programs, and
programs that only use (potential) platform functions such as
mbedtls_printf. dh_client and dh_server keep linking with mbedtls
because they use functions from the net_sockets module.

776521aee8 Return from the test and utility examples via exit()
All the core examples have been modified not to return from main
by the means of the return statement, but rather via exit() function,
which was done to make the examples more bare metal friendly.

This commit, for the sake of consistency, introduces the modifications
to the test and utility examples. These, while less likely to be used
in the low level environments, won't suffer from such a change.

72c8c5b352 Merge remote-tracking branch 'upstream-crypto/development' into psa-api-1.0-beta-merge_development_20190801
Conflict resolution:
* `scripts/config.pl`:
  Take the exclusion of `MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_SE_C` from the API branch.
  Take the removal of `MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_STORAGE_ITS_C` (obsolete) from
  the development branch.
* `tests/scripts/all.sh`:
  Multiple instances of factoring a sequence of `config.pl` calls into
  a mere `config.pl baremetal` in the development branch, and a change in
  the composition of `baremetal` in the API branch. In each case, take the
  version from development.
* `tests/suites/test_suite_psa_crypto_slot_management.function`:
  A function became non-static in development and disappeared in the API
  branch. Keep the version from the API branch. Functions need to be
  non-static if they're defined but unused in some configurations,
  which is not the case for any function in this file at the moment.
* `tests/suites/test_suite_psa_crypto.function`:
  Consecutive changes in the two branches, reconciled.

8dd1690993 Merge remote-tracking branch 'tls/development' into development
Resolve conflicts by performing the following operations:
- Reject changes related to building a crypto submodule, since Mbed
  Crypto is the crypto submodule.
- Reject X.509, NET, and SSL changes.
- Reject changes to README, as Mbed Crypto is a different project from
  Mbed TLS, with a different README.
- Avoid adding mention of ssl-opt.sh in a comment near some modified
  code in include/CMakeLists.txt (around where ENABLE_TESTING as added).
- Align config.pl in Mbed TLS with config.pl in Mbed Crypto where PSA
  options are concerned, to make future merging easier. There is no
  reason for the two to be different in this regard, now that Mbed TLS
  always depends on Mbed Crypto. Remaining differences are only the
  PSA_CRYPTO_KEY_FILE_ID_ENCODES_OWNER option and the absence of X.509,
  NET, and SSL related options in Mbed Crypto's config.pl.
- Align config.h in Mbed Crypto with Mbed TLS's copy, with a few notable
  exceptions:
  - Leave CMAC on by default.
  - Leave storage on by default (including ITS emulation).
  - Avoid documenting the PSA Crypto API as is in beta stage in
    documentation for MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_C.
  The only remaining differences are a lack of X.509, NET, and SSL
  options in Mbed Crypto's config.h, as well as an additional
  Mbed-Crypto-specific PSA_CRYPTO_KEY_FILE_ID_ENCODES_OWNER option.
  Documentation for the check params feature and related macros is also
  updated to match Mbed TLS's description.
- Reject tests/data_files/Makefile changes to generate DER versions of
  CRTs and keys, as none of those are used by Mbed Crypto tests.
- Add the "no PEM and no filesystem" test to all.sh, without ssl-opt.sh
  run, as Mbed Crypto doesn't have ssl-opt.sh. Also remove use of PSA
  Crypto storage and ITS emulation, since those depend on filesystem
  support.
- Reject addition of test when no ciphersuites have MAC to all.sh, as
  the option being tested, MBEDTLS_SSL_SOME_MODES_USE_MAC, is not
  present in Mbed Crypto.
- Use baremetal config in all.sh, as Mbed Crypto's baremetal
  configuration does exclude the net module (as it doesn't exist in Mbed
  Crypto)
- Reject cmake_subproject_build changes, continuing to link only
  libmbedcrypto.
- Reject changes to visualc and associated templates. Mbed Crypto
  doesn't need additional logic to handle submodule-sourced headers.
- Avoid adding fuzzers from Mbed TLS. The only relevant fuzzers are the
  privkey and pubkey fuzzers, but non-trivial work would be required to
  integrate those into Mbed Crypto (more than is comfortable in a merge
  commit).
- Reject addition of Docker wrappers for compat.sh and ssl-opt.sh, as
  those are not present in Mbed Crypto.
- Remove calls to SSL-related scripts from basic-in-docker.sh

Fix test errors by performing the following:
- Avoid using a link that Doxygen can't seem to resolve in Mbed Crypto,
  but can resolve in Mbed TLS. In documentation for
  MBEDTLS_CHECK_PARAMS, don't attempt to link to MBEDTLS_PARAM_FAILED.

All sample and test programs had a definition of mbedtls_param_failed.
This was necessary because we wanted to be able to build them in a

961e677fe3 UDP proxy: Don't attempt to dissect dgram into records when dropping
To prevent dropping the same message over and over again, the UDP proxy
test application programs/test/udp_proxy _logically_ maintains a mapping
from records to the number of times the record has already been dropped,
and stops dropping once a configurable threshold (currently 2) is passed.

However, the actual implementation deviates from this logical view
in two crucial respects:
- To keep the implementation simple and independent of
  implementations of suitable map interfaces, it only counts how
  many times a record of a given _size_ has been dropped, and
  stops dropping further records of that size once the configurable
  threshold is passed. Of course, this is not fail-proof, but a
  good enough approximation for the proxy, and it allows to use
  an inefficient but simple array for the required map.
- The implementation mixes datagram lengths and record lengths:
  When deciding whether it is allowed to drop a datagram, it
  uses the total datagram size as a lookup index into the map
  counting the number of times a package has been dropped. However,
  when updating this map, the UDP proxy traverses the datagram
  record by record, and updates the mapping at the level of record
  lengths.

Apart from this inconsistency, the introduction of the Connection ID
feature leads to yet another problem: The CID length is not part of
the record header but dynamically negotiated during (potentially
encrypted!) handshakes, and it is hence impossible for a passive traffic
analyzer (in this case our UDP proxy) to reliably parse record headers;
especially, it isn't possible to reliably infer the length of a record,
nor to dissect a datagram into records.

The previous implementation of the UDP proxy was not CID-aware and
assumed that the record length would always reside at offsets 11, 12
in the DTLS record header, which would allow it to iterate through
the datagram record by record. As mentioned, this is no longer possible
for CID-based records, and the current implementation can run into
a buffer overflow in this case (because it doesn't validate that
the record length is not larger than what remains in the datagram).

This commit removes the inconsistency in datagram vs. record length
and resolves the buffer overflow issue by not attempting any dissection
of datagrams into records, and instead only counting how often _datagrams_
of a particular size have been dropped.

There is only one practical situation where this makes a difference:
If datagram packing is used by default but disabled on retransmission
(which OpenSSL has been seen to do), it can happen that we drop a
datagram in its initial transmission, then also drop some of its records
when they retransmitted one-by-one afterwards, yet still keeping the
drop-counter at 1 instead of 2. However, even in this situation, we'll
correctly count the number of droppings from that point on and eventually
stop dropping, because the peer will not fall back to using packing
and hence use stable record lengths.

98aaf25686 Add bad_cid option UDP proxy to insert unexpected CID records
This commit adds the command line option 'bad_cid' to the UDP proxy
`./programs/test/udp_proxy`. It takes a non-negative integral value N,
which if not 0 has the effect of duplicating every 1:N CID records
and modifying the CID in the first copy sent.

This is to exercise the stacks documented behaviour on receipt
of unexpected CIDs.

It is important to send the record with the unexpected CID first,
because otherwise the packet would be dropped already during
replay protection (the same holds for the implementation of the
existing 'bad_ad' option).

31f6e372e6 UDP Proxy: Don't drop CID records
ApplicationData records are not protected against loss by DTLS
and our test applications ssl_client2 and ssl_server2 don't
implement any retransmission scheme to deal with loss of the
data they exchange. Therefore, the UDP proxy programs/test/udp_proxy
does not drop ApplicationData records.

With the introduction of the Connection ID, encrypted ApplicationData
records cannot be recognized as such by inspecting the record content
type, as the latter is always set to the CID specific content type for
protected records using CIDs, while the actual content type is hidden
in the plaintext.

To keep tests working, this commit adds CID records to the list of
content types which are protected against dropping by the UDP proxy.

3ef6a6dc5c Fix const-ness in mbedtls_param_failed()
The previous prototype gave warnings are the strings produced by #cond and
__FILE__ are const, so we shouldn't implicitly cast them to non-const.

While at it modifying most example programs:
- include the header that has the function declaration, so that the definition
  can be checked to match by the compiler
- fix whitespace
- make it work even if PLATFORM_C is not defined:
    - CHECK_PARAMS is not documented as depending on PLATFORM_C and there is
      no reason why it should
    - so, remove the corresponding #if defined in each program...
    - and add missing #defines for mbedtls_exit when needed

The result has been tested (make all test with -Werror) with the following
configurations:

- full with    CHECK_PARAMS with    PLATFORM_C
- full with    CHECK_PARAMS without PLATFORM_C
- full without CHECK_PARAMS without PLATFORM_C
- full without CHECK_PARAMS with    PLATFORM_C

Additionally, it has been manually tested that adding

    mbedtls_aes_init( NULL );

near the normal call to mbedtls_aes_init() in programs/aes/aescrypt2.c has the
expected effect when running the program.

5f77801ac3 Implement AES-XTS mode
XTS mode is fully known as "xor-encrypt-xor with ciphertext-stealing".
This is the generalization of the XEX mode.
This implementation is limited to an 8-bits (1 byte) boundary, which
doesn't seem to be what was thought considering some test vectors [1].

This commit comes with tests, extracted from [1], and benchmarks.
Although, benchmarks aren't really nice here, as they work with a buffer
of a multiple of 16 bytes, which isn't a challenge for XTS compared to
XEX.

This module used (len, pointer) while (pointer, len) is more common in the

very comparable to Poly1305, so switch to (pointer, len) for consistency.

dca3a5d884 Rename aead_chacha20_poly1305 to chachapoly
While the old name is explicit and aligned with the RFC, it's also very long,
so with the mbedtls_ prefix prepended we get a 31-char prefix to each
identifier, which quickly conflicts with our 80-column policy.

The new name is shorter, it's what a lot of people use when speaking about
that construction anyway, and hopefully should not introduce confusion at
it seems unlikely that variants other than 20/1305 be standardised in the
foreseeable future.

e61514d70d benchmark: Fix incompatibility with C89 compilers
Initializing arrays using non-constant expressions is not permitted in
C89, and was causing errors when compiling with Metrowerks CodeWarrior
(for classic MacOS) in C89 mode. Clang also produces a warning when
compiling with '-Wc99-extensions':

test/benchmark.c:670:42: warning: initializer for aggregate is not a compile-time constant [-Wc99-extensions]
        const unsigned char *dhm_P[] = { dhm_P_2048, dhm_P_3072 };
                                         ^~~~~~~~~~
test/benchmark.c:674:42: warning: initializer for aggregate is not a compile-time constant [-Wc99-extensions]
        const unsigned char *dhm_G[] = { dhm_G_2048, dhm_G_3072 };
                                         ^~~~~~~~~~

Declaring the arrays as 'static' makes them constant expressions.

a5e68979ca Resolve integer type conversion problem on MSVC
MSVC rightfully complained that there was some conversion from `size_t`
to `unsigned int` that could come with a loss of data. This commit
re-types the corresponding struct field `ctx_buffer::len` to `size_t`.
Also, the function `ctx_buffer_append` has an integer return value
which is supposed to be the (positive) length of the appended data
on success, and a check is inserted that the data to be appended does
not exceed MAX_INT in length.

fbb0b701e4 Corrupt application data in the beginning instead of the end in UDP proxy
The UDP proxy corrupts application data at the end of the datagram. If
there are multiple DTLS records within the same datagram, this leads
to the wrong message being corrupted. This commit always corrupts the
beginning of the message to prevent this.

Overall, the UDP proxy needs reworking if it is supposed to reliably
support multiple records within a single datagram, because it
determines its actions from the type of the first record in the
current datagram only.

1dd62ea811 Add packing option to UDP proxy
This commit provides the new option pack=TIME for the udp proxy
./programs/test/udp_proxy. If used, udp packets with the same
destination will be queued and concatenated for up to TIME
milliseconds before being delivered.

This is useful to test how mbed TLS's deals with multiple DTLS records
within a single datagram.

f65ca329b6 Introduce UDP proxy wrapper script
This commit introduces the script `programs/test/udp_proxy_wrapper.sh` which can
be used to wrap the SSL server binary `programs/ssl/ssl_server2` by the UDP
proxy application `programs/test/udp_proxy` while maintaining the same
interface from the command line.

Specifically, given UDP proxy arguments ARGS_UDP and SSL server arguments
ARGS_SSL, the command line

> ./udp_proxy_wrapper.sh ARGS_UDP -- ARGS_SSL

behaves like

> ./ssl_server2 ARGS_SSL

wrapped by

> ./udp_proxy ARGS_UDP

The motivation and benefit of this is that scripts like `ssl-opt.sh` can be used
with the server command line `P_SRV` modified to `./udp_proxy_wrapper.sh
ARGS_UDP -- DEFAULT_ARGS_SSL` which will result in all tests being executed for
an SSL server behind a UDP proxy.
