Extend mbedtls_ssl_set_hs_own_cert() to reset handshake cert list
if cert provided is null. Previously, mbedtls_ssl_set_hs_own_cert()
only provided a way to append to the handshake certificate list,
without providing a way to replace the handshake certificate list.

The user data is typically a pointer to a data structure or a handle which
may no longer be valid after the session is restored. If the user data needs
to be preserved, let the application do it. This way, it is a conscious
decision for the application to save/restore either the pointer/handle
itself or the object it refers to.

This commit adds four known answer tests for TLS 1.3 record protection
from the following sources:
- RFC 8448 "Example Handshake Traces for TLS 1.3"
- tls13.ulfheim.net "The New Illustrated TLS Connection"
It extends the test coverage of the existing record protection tests
in the following ways:
- The existing record protection tests hand-craft record transform
structures; the new tests use the function
mbedtls_ssl_tls13_populate_transform()
from library source to create an TLS 1.3 transform from raw
key material and connection information.
- The existing record protection tests only check that encryption
and decryption are inverse to each other; as such, they don't
catch non-compliant implementations of encryption and decryption
which happen to be inverse to each other. By adding a known answer
test for TLS 1.3 record protection, can gain confidence that our
implementation is indeed standards-compliant.

Instances of `mbedtls_ssl_session` represent data enabling session resumption.
With the introduction of TLS 1.3, the format of this data changes. We therefore
need TLS-version field as part of `mbedtlsl_ssl_session` which allows distinguish
1.2 and 1.3 sessions.
This commit introduces such a TLS-version field to mbedtls_ssl_session.
The change has a few ramifications:
- Session serialization/deserialization routines need to be adjusted.
This is achieved by adding the TLS-version after the header of
Mbed TLS version+config, and by having the subsequent structure
of the serialized data depend on the value of this field.
The details are described in terms of the RFC 8446 presentation language.
The 1.2 session (de)serialization are moved into static helper functions,
while the top-level session (de)serialization only parses the Mbed TLS
version+config header and the TLS-version field, and dispatches according
to the found version.
This way, it will be easy to add support for TLS 1.3 sessions in the future.
- Tests for session serialization need to be adjusted
- Once we add support for TLS 1.3, with runtime negotiation of 1.2 vs. 1.3,
we will need to have some logic comparing the TLS version of the proposed session
to the negotiated TLS version. For now, however, we only support TLS 1.2,
and no such logic is needed. Instead, we just store the TLS version in the
session structure at the same point when we populate mbedtls_ssl_context.minor_ver.
The change introduces some overlap between `mbedtls_ssl_session.minor_ver` and
`mbedtls_ssl_context.minor_ver`, which should be studied and potentially resolved.
However, with both fields being private and explicitly marked so, this can happen
in a later change.

This is necessary for the case where the public part of an EC keypair
needs to be computed from the private part - either because it was not
included (it's an optional component) or because it was compressed (a
format we can't parse).
This changes the API of two public functions: mbedtls_pk_parse_key() and
mbedtls_pk_parse_keyfile().
Tests and programs have been adapted. Some programs use a non-secure RNG
(from the test library) just to get things to compile and run; in a
future commit this should be improved in order to demonstrate best
practice.

Some functions were not deinitializing the PSA subsystem. This could
lead to resource leaks at the level of individual test cases, and
possibly at the level of the whole test suite depending on the order
and selection of test cases.

Make USE_PSA_INIT() and USE_PSA_DONE() available in all test suites in
all cases, doing nothing if MBEDTLS_USE_PSA_CRYPTO is disabled. Use
those in preference to having explicit
defined(MBEDTLS_USE_PSA_CRYPTO) checks (but there may still be places
left where using the new macros would be better).
Also provide PSA_INIT() by symmetry with PSA_DONE(), functional
whenver MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_C is enabled, but currently unused.

Moves the functions `test_fail`, `test_set_step`, `test_skip` and the struct
`test_info` from `tests/suites/helpers.function` to `tests/src/helpers.*`.
This is done to open these functions up to the API where they can be used by
other functions in the 'src' test infrastructure module.
As the functions are now contained within the src folder of the testing
infrastructure, the `mbedtls_` prefix has been added to the functions.

ssl_tls1_3_keys.c exports a structure containing all labels used
in the TLS 1.3 key schedule, but the TLS 1.3 key scheduling unit
tests so far replicated those labels in the test file. In particular,
wrong label values in ssl_tls1_3_keys.c wouldn't have been caught
by the unit tests.
This commit modifies the TLS 1.3 key schedule unit tests to use
the TLS 1.3 labels as exported by ssl_tls1_3_keys.c. This not only
makes sure that those labels are correct, but also avoids hardcoding
their hex-encoding in the test file.

The tests are supposed to be failing now (in all.sh component
test_memsan_constant_flow), but they don't as apparently MemSan doesn't
complain when the src argument of memcpy() is uninitialized, see
https://github.com/google/sanitizers/issues/1296
The next commit will add an option to test constant flow with valgrind, which
will hopefully correctly flag the current non-constant-flow implementation.

We only have a single integer available for two nested loops, but the loop
sizes are small enough compared to the integer's range that we can encode both
indexes. Since the integer is displayed in decimal in case of errors, use a
power of 10 to pack the two indexes together.

Everything works at the byte level, not bit level. Flipping the lsb is just
one convenient way to corrupt a byte, but don't really care about individual
bits.

The test function now depends on MBEDTLS_TEST_HOOKS, which is enabled by
config.py full, and since there are already components in all.sh exercising
the full config, this test function is sill exercised even with this new
dependency.
Since this is the first time a test function depends on MBEDTLS_TEST_HOOKS,
fix a bug in check-names.sh that wasn't apparent so far: headers from
library/*.h were not considered when looking for macro definitions. This
became apparent because MBEDTLS_STATIC_TESTABLE is defined in library/common.h
and started being used in library/ssl_msg.c, so was flagged as a likely typo.

The dummy implementation is not constant-flow at all for now, it's just
here as a starting point and a support for developing the tests and putting
the infrastructure in place.
Depending on the implementation strategy, there might be various corner cases
depending on where the lengths fall relative to block boundaries. So it seems
safer to just test all possible lengths in a given range than to use only a
few randomly-chosen values.

The ssl_tranform structure lacks some members accessed by this function when
CBC is not enabled.
This was found by test-ref-configs.pl and all.sh

Compared to the previous approach of having the bad padding provided as input
to the testing function, this allows to test more kinds of incorrect data,
with less test cases in the .data file and more important no manually-generated
non-trivial data in the test case parameters, making it much easier to
complete the testing matrix.

TLS 1.3 and DTLS 1.2 + CID hide the real content type of a record
within the record's inner plaintext, while always using the same
content type for the protected record:
- TLS 1.3 always uses ApplicationData
- DTLS 1.2 + CID always uses a special CID content type.
This commit enhances the record encryption unit test to check
that the record content type is indeed correctly hidden.

This commit introduces two changes:
- Add in_msg and out_msg calculations for buffer upsizing. This was previously
considered as unnecessary, but renegotiation using certain ciphersuites needs
this.
- Improving the way out_msg and in_msg pointers are calculated, so that even
if no resizing is introduced, the pointers remain the same;
New tests added:
- various renegotiation schemes with a range of MFL's and ciphersuites;
- an ssl-opt.sh test exercising two things that were problematic: renegotiation
with TLS-ECDHE-ECDSA-WITH-AES-128-CCM-8 and a server MFL that's smaller
than the one negotiated by the client.

Merge the latest state of the target branch (mbedtls/development) into the
pull request to merge mbed-crypto into mbedtls.
Conflicts:
* ChangeLog: add/add conflict. Resolve by using the usual section order.
Rename identifiers containing double-underscore (`__`) to avoid `__`.
The reason to avoid double-underscore is that all identifiers
containing double-underscore are reserved in C++. Rename all such
identifiers that appear in any public header, including ssl_internal.h
which is in principle private but in practice is installed with the
public headers.
This commit makes check-names.sh pass.

Counting of the fragments has been shifted from the writing section to
the reading. This is more reliable because one reading is made for one
fragment and during one write the library can internally divide data
into two fragments

Initialize variables to NULL before doing any operations that might fail.
This fixes a case where the allocation fails on the first context, which

For this test it is good to have a handshake messages length as big as
possible, so for the server the certificate verification mode is
changed from default NONE to REQUIRED. It requires the client to send
certificate date to the server during handshake

Create and provide a structure with default options so that the caller won't have
to pass all of the parameters each time the handshake is called. In the future
this can be improved so that the options are passed as a string, just like in
ssl-opt.sh.

Let the caller decide what certificates and keys are loaded (EC/RSA)
instead of loading both for the server, and an unspecified one
for the client. Use only DER encoding.
Because two buffers were aliased too early in the code, it was possible that
after an allocation failure, free() would be called twice for the same pointer.
Previously mocked non-blocking read/write was returning 0 when buffer was empty/full. That was causing ERR_SSL_CONN_EOF error in tests which was using these mocked callbacks. Beside that non-blocking read/write was returning ERR_SSL_WANT_READ/_WRITE depending on block pattern set by test design. Such behavior forced to redesign of these functions so that they could be used in other tests
This error occurs when free space in the buffer is in the middle (the buffer has come full circle) and function mbedtls_test_buffer_put is called. Then the arguments for memcpy are calculated incorrectly and program ends with segmentation fault
In a unit test we want to avoid accessing the network. To test the
handshake in the unit test suite we need to implement a connection
between the server and the client. This socket implementation uses
two ring buffers to mock the transport layer.

serve as the said connection.
This commit introduces a new SSL error code
`MBEDTLS_ERR_SSL_VERSION_MISMATCH`
which can be used to indicate operation failure due to a
mismatch of version or configuration.
It is put to use in the implementation of `mbedtls_ssl_session_load()`
to signal the attempt to de-serialize a session which has been serialized
in a build of Mbed TLS using a different version or configuration.
This commit improves the test exercising the behaviour of
session deserialization when facing an unexpected version
or config, by testing ver/cfg corruption at any bit in the
ver/cfg header of the serialized data; previously, it had
only tested the first bit of each byte.
The chosen fix matches what's currently done in the baremetal branch - except
the `#ifdef` have been adapted because now in baremetal the digest is not kept
if renegotiation is disabled.
We have explicit recommendations to use US spelling for technical writing, so
let's apply this to code as well for uniformity. (My fingers tend to prefer UK
spelling, so this needs to be fixed in many places.)

This test works regardless of the serialisation format and embedded pointers
in it, contrary to the load-save test, though it requires more maintenance of
the test code (sync the member list with the struct definition).
This uncovered a bug that led to a double-free (in practice, in general could
be free() on any invalid value): initially the session structure is loaded
with `memcpy()` which copies the previous values of pointers peer_cert and
ticket to heap-allocated buffers (or any other value if the input is
attacker-controlled). Now if we exit before we got a chance to replace those
invalid values with valid ones (for example because the input buffer is too
small, or because the second malloc() failed), then the next call to
session_free() is going to call free() on invalid pointers.
This bug is fixed in this commit by always setting the pointers to NULL right
after they've been read from the serialised state, so that the invalid values
can never be used.
(An alternative would be to NULL-ify them when writing, which was rejected
mostly because we need to do it when reading anyway (as the consequences of
free(invalid) are too severe to take any risk), so doing it when writing as
well is redundant and a waste of code size.)
Also, while thinking about what happens in case of errors, it became apparent
to me that it was bad practice to leave the session structure in an
half-initialised state and rely on the caller to call session_free(), so this
commit also ensures we always clear the structure when loading failed.
This test appeared to be passing for the wrong reason, it's actually not
appropriate for the current implementation. The serialised data contains
values of pointers to heap-allocated buffers. There is no reason these should
be identical after a load-save pair. They just happened to be identical when I
first ran the test due to the place of session_free() in the test code and the
fact that the libc's malloc() reused the same buffers. The test no longer
passes if other malloc() implementations are used (for example, when compiling
with asan which avoids re-using the buffer, probably for better error
detection).
So, disable this test for now (we can re-enable it when we changed how
sessions are serialised, which will be done in a future PR, hence the name of
the dummy macro in depends_on). In the next commit we're going to add a test
that save-load is the identity instead - which will be more work in testing as
it will require checking each field manually, but at least is reliable.
This initial test ensures that a load-save function is the identity. It is so
far incomplete in that it only tests sessions without tickets or certificate.
This will be improved in the next commits.
When MBEDTLS_SSL_ENCRYPT_THEN_MAC is enabled, but not
MBEDTLS_SSL_SOME_MODES_USE_MAC, mbedtls_ssl_derive_keys() and
build_transforms() will attempt to use a non-existent `encrypt_then_mac`
field in the ssl_transform.

Change mbedtls_ssl_derive_keys() and build_transforms() to only access
`encrypt_then_mac` if `encrypt_then_mac` is actually present.
Add a regression test to detect when we have regressions with
configurations that do not include any MAC ciphersuites.

Part of the record encryption/decryption tests is to gradually
increase the space available at the front and/or at the back of
a record and observe when encryption starts to succeed. If exactly
one of the two parameters is varied at a time, the expectation is
that encryption will continue to succeed once it has started
succeeding (that's not true if both pre- and post-space are varied
at the same time).
Moreover, previously the test would take turns when choosing which
transform should be used for encryption, and which for decryption.
With the introduction of the CID feaature, this switching of transforms
doesn't align with the expectation of eventual success of the encryption,
since the overhead of encryption might be different for the parties,
because both parties may use different CIDs for their outgoing records.
This commit modifies the tests to not take turns between transforms,
but to always use the same transforms for encryption and decryption
during a single round of the test.
This commit adds tests to check the behavior of the record encryption
routine `ssl_encrypt_buf` when the buffer surrounding the plaintext is
too small to hold the expansion in the beginning and end (due to IV's,
padding, and MAC).
Each test starts successively increases the space available at the
beginning, end, or both, of the record buffer, and checks that the
record encryption either fails with a BUFFER_TOO_SMALL error, or
that it succeeds. Moreover, if it succeeds, it is checked that
decryption succeeds, too, and results in the original record.
This commit adds tests exercising mutually inverse pairs of
record encryption and decryption transformations for the various
transformation types allowed in TLS: Stream, CBC, and AEAD.
Add a test case calling ssl_set_hostname twice to test_suite_ssl.
When run in CMake build mode ASan, this catches the current leak,
but will hopefully be fine with the new version.
